Therapy
List of services
Available in English or Mandarin.
Individual Therapy
These are sessions exclusively for you to work on issues close to your heart. Each person is unique and we can be stressed or are coping with matters that others may not appreciate or understand. Long term chronic issues can adversely affect our health and relationships so early intervention provides the best outcome.
The list of issues is not exhaustive but serves to give an idea of what can be worked with in therapy:
difficulty with emotions such as anger, low moods
dilemmas with decision making, transitions
relationship problems such as at work, in school, or at home
coping with diagnosed mental health problems such as depression and anxiety
diagnosed or suspected trauma
stress from caregiving or parenting
coping with grief and loss
Sometimes, we are unsure what troubles us and that's fine too. Therapy can help one to sort through and identify what we need.
Individual sessions are an hour in duration.
Relationship Therapy (Couple)
Intimate relationships are beautiful and complex at the same time, where at each stage of the relationship different problems can crop up. Relationship counselling is suited for couples who plan to or are already committed to making things work.
The list here is for reference and not meant to be exhaustive:
Growing distant in the relationship
Frequent conflicts that go unresolved
Stagnation in personal and couple growth
Betrayal of trust
Unresolved differences in parenting approach
Difficulties living with extended family
Couple sessions are of 1.5 hour duration, and require both parties to attend.
Persons in CNM (consensual non-monogamous) relationships are welcome. Please state how many persons will be attending so that sufficient space and duration is allocated.
Family Therapy
The basic building blocks of society and individuals is the family unit. And families can come in many configurations beyond what is considered nuclear , "complete", or "traditional".
Family relationships form the basis of a home that one expects to be safe, stable, and nurturing. However, the family unit besides dealing with external stressors is also an aggregation of persons each with their own blindspots, shortcomings, and frailties. When there are children involved, they may find themselves landing in a difficult spot between adults who already have an ongoing problem.
Issues often brought to family therapy are:
Tense relationships between parents and children
Past hurts that impinge on family functioning
Families facing transitions such as divorce, losses
Families stressed with caregiving responsibilities
Family sessions are of 120 minutes duration (up to family size of 4) .
Family sessions are 90 minutes duration for dyad work (2 persons).
